Resident Evil Lurches into 3D
A contemporary Nintendo console release wouldn’t be complete without a Resident Evil game. As such, it will not come as a surprise that one has been announced for the Nintendo 3DS. Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D features remastered stages (the Mercenaries ones, in case you hadn’t guessed) from both Resident Evil 4 and 5; players must defeat as many foes as possible in a race against time. Battle either alone or together, with two player co-op available via Wi-Fi. Confirmed playable characters include old favourites such as Jill Valentine, Claire and Chris Redfield, Jack Krauser and the always awesome-sounding Hunk. The Resident Evil series (known, perhaps rather aptly, as Biohazard in Japan) started out on the Playstation and Sega Saturn in 1996, and now has seen the release of over twenty games. The 3DS version looks to make the experience of fighting hordes of zombies even more visceral; who wouldn’t be at least a little unnerved to have a rotting corpse lunge at them from the screen of their 3DS?
