How To Think Bigger Than You Ever Have Starting Right Now
January 28th, 2008 by aaks
There is no need to waste time working your way to the top. Start in your mind to imagine the grandest possibilities.
I remember a poem I wrote several years ago. It questioned this very idea by looking at examples all around me and asking …why Joe the Sharecropper when he can own the plantation or, why be the janitor when you could be President of ABC Cleaning Company; and why be just another gear in the wheel when you could be the wheel that makes the world go ‘round. Start “Thinking Big″ this minute and see where your thoughts can take you.
Go on then
“Thinking Big” can get you to the top faster than any other form of mind conditioning. Every thought you have can be done bigger. Every imagination becomes real when you believe that dreams cannot fill your mind unless it can become truth. This is where genius comes from. It is inside you. It is the bridge you must walk across to separate yourself from the wretched soul who cannot see a future beyond the tip of his lip.
Seek the challenges
When challenged we rise to expectations, whether from the boss, spouse or anyone else we respect. Embrace the excitement of such challenges. Crave the uneasiness that comes with it. Nervousness is a sign that you are not languishing. Outwardly it is seen as proof that you’re making an effort to pull from your subconscious the genius that goes unnoticed.
The difference in geniuses and “not to much genius” is insight. The insight is like a guidepost with the purpose of making your talents an unlimited resource. For example, ever witnessed someone do something that you know you can do better? Ever thought of an idea only to see someone enjoying the rewards, even though you had it first?
The Nervous Zone
Stepping out in the unfamiliar, nervous zone is the difference between you and them. They chose to confront the nervousness. You did not. Now they enjoy what is rightfully yours. Stepping up to the plate, taking one more swing, resolving to do it different next time creates momentum needed for great achievement.
When nervousness exists in a situation it stops you cold. But this is not the time to stop and think. It is the time for action. It is the time to sprint forward. Although the steps are small, the key is to make each step, swifter and higher and with more resolute determination. Before long, you’ll look to the left and to the right only to realize that you are leading the race. And that is a great position to be in because along the way each successive step has emblazoned your confidence. The sheer competition of the game is more exciting than the actual game itself. The gains you receive in self-confidence, attitude and mental agility cannot be measured by known standards.
It is really dead simple, but not that easy.
